Draught proofing is the one of the most popular services we offer as it is a cost effective way to help reduce outside noise and helps keep your home or work place warmer. As energy costs rise draught proofing also helps reduce heating bills.
We draught proof windows as part of our Sash Window Refurbishment process and the process involves embedding draught proofing brushes around sections of the window frame and timber window sashes.
Draught proofing works by using a flexible brush strip which will help to block out draughts, outside noise, dust and dirt. Draught proofing your sash windows is more cost effective than double glazing and provides an excellent alternative to window replacement.
Here’s what we do when we draught proof your timber sash window.
• Remove and discard all parting beading.
• Clean out parting bead channel and carry out any necessary repairs as required.
• Join new timber to all faulty windows at cross points to reduce the gap if required.
• Supply and fit new parting bead with integrated draught excluder brush strip, so that all running surfaces of sash windows are draught excluded.
• Re-hang all sash windows replacing damaged or weak sash cords as required and ensuring all balances are correct.
• Supply and fit brush strip excluder strip where the windows meet in the closed position if the gap allows.
• Re-position all staff beading to ensure rattle free operation.
Draught proofing forms part of our window refurbishment service.
